Diet

January 12th, 2008
Jep, you read right. Here’s what is going on: I made a bet with myself that I can survive one month without any junk food. No McDonald’s, no Wendys, no Burger King, no KFC and nothing fat at all. Instead, I will double my gym time, and try to eat healthy stuff such as fruits and vegetables, protein-rich meals and also have more than 3 meals a day. I also banned coca cola, but since diet coke is utterly disgusting and coca cola zero is a joke, I simply tried to limit it to one can a week. I do not want a 100% strict diet, I am still drinking at parties and having my occasional donut. The whole point of this is to see if it changes anything.

For those who do not know me, I used to drink at least one liter of coke per day, and you could find me in a fast-food thrice a week. The thing is that I don’t get fat (yet :D ). I do sports almost every day, and I’m feeling fine. I browsed several bodybuilding forums and as it turns out, nutrition seems to be at least 30% responsible of the body’s fitness, independently from any exercise one is doing. So I thought I’d give it a try, and one month seemed to be a good lenght for my experiment.

I also consume Whey protein isolates to force the pace of the weight gaining process and muscular development. Depending on one’s metabolism, this could be very effective, or, in fact, as good as useless. Wait and see. All this may sound a little strange at first glance, but it is entirely safe. It’s not as if I was taking steroids :D So I’ll keep you informed about the results of my little test… It’s been one week now, and as a result I’m much more hungry than usual at any time of the day. So I’m eating more, I guess that this is part of the whole process. The Siemens gym is well equipped and as the building is open until 10:00 pm, I usually get back there after work.

Ok that’s all for now, the next article will probably be about the cocktail party from last week at washington road, but only if I get the pictures by then (yes Flo, I mean you !). Solong…

My new red car

January 8th, 2008
As promised, here is my new car ! I changed because the remote from the HHR I had before did not work very well, plus I was definitely too tall for this car. The mileage was good, though. Now I have what appears to be the official SCR-Interns-car: The Impala 2007. Some were lucky and got the 2008 version, but this one also does the job.

Here it is:

I finally got my Line-In radio ! On the other hand, CDs tend to hang randomly after a while, and it appears to be a common error with the Impala Radios. But what the heck, the car is new (4000 Miles) and I won’t have to return it anytime soon. About the mileage … let’s just say there is a reason why this type of car does not sell very well in Europe :D

2008 !

January 6th, 2008
Happy new year ! I want to announce that I have a new resolution: 1024*768. Haha. That being said, it’s just a new year, I’ll be an extra 10% funnier this year. Fot those who are wondering, yes it IS possible.

Anyway, I spent christmas in bed with fever. Could have been better, but it got better for new year’s eve. What counts is how you spend some quality time with friends and/or relatives. We went to NYC in a fancy restaurant, and guess who sat next to our table ? Ben Affleck and his wife Jennifer Garner ! Morgane even asked for a photo with them, and she got it ! Ben is a nice guy, and did not act like one would expect from any superstar. So that made our day :D

After this, we went to see the fireworks in central park. We missed midnight by 30 seconds, running from the metro station to the park, thank you Ben Affleck :D The Firework was good, especially the final display was amazing.

One funny thing about americans is that they go home just after the event they came for finishes. No after-partying or anything, within 10 minutes the whole crowd vanished and central park became back what it usually is around midnight: A creepy dark place where one should not wander around alone. So we would not go home this soon, so we joined a party at Andreas’ friends in Brooklyn. Damn am I glad not to live this far from work, the subway from Manhattan to Brooklyn takes ages. The flat was very nice, though. The party hosts were likable too, we had a good time. We finally got home at 7:30 am, after riding the oh-so-crowded NJTransit train.

Ok that’s it for today, but I’ll post a new article tomorrow about … my new car ! :D
